作为中国摄影家协会举办的重要品牌活动之一，中国国际摄影艺术展览自1981年批准设立，已成功举办了18届，经过40年的不断努力与探索，国际影展受到国内外摄影人更多的关注和积极参与，已经成为中国举办历史最久、影响最大的国际摄影艺术展览活动之一，成为中国摄影界对外交流合作的重要窗口，成为世界各国摄影人切磋技艺、展示才华、分享佳作的平台。
China International Photographic Art Exhibition (CIPAE) was approved in 1981 as one of the major brand events launched by China Photographers Association (CPA). So far, 18 CIPAE sessions have been held. Through 40 years of efforts and exploration, the CIPAE has attracted more and more attention from the photographers in China and the rest of the world, and the number of participants keeps increasing. It has become one of the most influential international photographic art events with the longest history in China, an important window for Chinese photography community to conduct exchanges and cooperation with their foreign counterparts, and a key platform for global photographers to show their talents and communicate with each other.

由中国摄影家协会、江苏省文联、无锡市人民政府共同主办的中国第18届国际摄影艺术展览共收到120个国家和地区17240名摄影人的投稿作品140701件（266797幅），经过34位中外摄影专家两个阶段的评选，最终产生294件入展作品。入展作品题材多样、异彩纷呈，凝结着中外摄影人对时代、对生活的思考，对摄影新观念的探索，很多作品创新了摄影的表达方式。
The 18th CIPAE is hosted by the CPA, Jiangsu Provincial Federation of Literary and Art Circles and Wuxi Municipal People’s Government. The organizers received 140,701 pieces (266,797 photos) by 17,240 photographers from 120 countries and regions around the world. After two rounds of appraisal and selection by 34 Chinese and foreign experts, 294 works were shortlisted. This session’s exhibits are diversified in subject matters and styles. They are the photographers’ reflections on life and the era and their exploration in the new concepts of photography. Many of them represent innovation in the means of expression.
文化需要互鉴，发展需要沟通。主办方希望通过本届国际影展，打造融通中外的新概念、新表述，积极发挥摄影文化的传播作用，用影像推进中国与世界其他国家的文化交流，加强与各国人民的友好往来。
Exchanges and mutual learning make cultural progress possible. Through this event, we hope to develop new concepts and expressions that draw inspirations from both China and the world, give full play to the communication role of photography, and use images to boost international cultural exchanges and enhance friendship among different peoples.
